·        Wow – this is phenomenal! You’ve written almost 1,400 words which demonstrates just how you’re stepping up to the challenges of GCSE level. Well done!

·        There are so many good points here where you discuss both audiences and industry in relation to the internet. You use examples in places and organise your essay into paragraphs that explore ideas related to the question. This is an excellent skill that will be vital in 20-mark exam essay questions.

EBI:

·        The key to improve is to focus on sentence structure – particularly topic sentences. This is the first sentence in a paragraph and a topic sentence needs to be clear, simple and lead the reader to understand what will follow. Make sure every topic sentence focuses sharply on the question and develops your argument.

·        In general, clearer sentence structure will help – pay more attention to spelling, grammar and word choice. You have excellent content but you need to proofread your work to check it makes grammatical sense for your reader. At GCSE level, good written English is essential!

·        As an example of this, read your introduction back. The first sentence is 43 words on its own and difficult to follow. You want to make sure your essay opens with a really clear argument so the examiner knows you are a top-grade student!

My strongest paragraph is Music industry, this is because i had the most knowledge and information for that subject.

My weakest paragraph is newspaper changes, this is because i had barely any knowledge over the newspaper industry.

5) How can you improve your extended writing in GCSE Media Studies in future?

Have clearer sentance structure and making gramatical sense not just writing a lot.

I learnt that the internet has made a drastic change to how the world now works. i have learnt that audiences decide whether media is viral or not and that all the industries have disadvantages .

  Current mark: 5 Approximate grade: 5 WWW: This is a clear statement of intent with a good idea for a TV drama sequence that meets the science fiction/fantasy genre brief. There are some nice creative touches and a clear understanding shown of target audience. Specific reference to media language and representation holds this back from the upper levels. EBI: There’s a little too much narrative development – keep this to just a sentence or two so you are not using too many words on description. The biggest issue is a lack of specific media language planning – you say what shots you plan to film but not why you will do it and the effect this will have on the audience. You need to use terminology and discuss the connotations of the media language choices you are planning. The main areas to do this are the camera shots, mise-en-scene, sound or editing (write about specific camera shots you will use and what they will communicate to the audience, specific aspects of mise-en-scene in detail

 1) A preferred reading of a text is the mindset the producers want you to take away from the piece of media that they are showcasing to you. 2) The oppositional reading is the mindset the producers don't want you to take away from the piece of media, basically the opposite of a preferred reading.
