Historical, social and cultural context  1) What radio stations were offered by the BBC before 1967? Radio home, Radio third, Radio light 2) How was BBC radio reorganised in September 1967? What were the new stations that launched? Radio 1, 2 ,3 and 4 3) What was pirate radio and why was it popular? The pirate radio was a radio station led by people who would sail 5 miles from the British coast and play as much music as they want because the Radio laws dont apply outside of the British coast. 4) Why did pirate radio stop broadcasting in 1967? Because the Marine Broadcasting Offences Act outlawed pirate radio stations. 5) How did the BBC attract young audiences to Radio 1 after pirate radio stations were closed down? They hired people who worked for the pirate stations. 6) What was 'needle time' and why was it a problem for BBC Radio?  Language and close-textual analysis 1) Write an NCIS analysis for the episode - using notes from the screening in class. Make specific, detailed reference to moments in the text using media terminology (e.g. media language - camera shots and movement, editing, diegetic/non-diegetic sound, mise-en-scene etc.) Co-owner of a Lonely Heart NCIS / Narrative:  Corakinus tries to anchor the heart so hes able to have it all, April fights back ad while shes a it also heals her mom. Camerawork :  High angle on Aprils dad when shes towering over him telling us hes a weaker character than April. Editing:  CGI: swords appearing out of thin air, orange glowing eyes, slicing portal to the shadow kin realm,the deadly flowering multiplying.  Language and close-textual analysis 1) Write an NCIS analysis for the episode - using notes from the screening in class. Make specific, detailed reference to moments in the text using media terminology (e.g. media language - camera shots and movement, editing, diegetic/non-diegetic sound, mise-en-scene etc.) Co-owner of a Lonely Heart Narrative:  The shadow kin king fights to get his heart back, hurting the main character, she uses his powers for the better and heals her mum allowing her to walk, at the end of the ep she goes into a portal to the shadow kin dimension. Character:  The main character seems very strong because shes fighting the shadow kin king while also trying to understand her father who got out of jail. Iconography:  During the whole episode there are connotations of the sci-fi genre because of the appearing swords in her hands but also the flower creatures that are feeding on blood and meat which obviously doesn't exist in the real world which is an example of vi
