 1) A preferred reading of a text is the mindset the producers want you to take away from the piece of media that they are showcasing to you. 2) The oppositional reading is the mindset the producers don't want you to take away from the piece of media, basically the opposite of a preferred reading. As a result of the internet I think audiences have a stronger power to some extent than they used to but also the industries have some power due to producing whereas audience really controls the sales and viewing rates of the media product. In my opinion the internet definitely makes the audience way more powerful than 20 years ago. The changes in the music industries have had a drastic change for audiences, some of the changes include; streaming applications, for example spotify, YouTube, music and soundclound these streaming devices have increased the easier abilities for audiences to listen to music which also increase the rate of views on music to.
