Because arctic monkeys themselves didnt upload the music, their fans did.

3) How does the rise of Arctic Monkeys differ from how One Direction were formed and became famous?

Arctic monkeys rose to frame when their own fans uploded their music, however ith one direction they were on X Factor who has millions of viewers and they were put together strategically to make money by Simon Cowell.

4) Who is Arctic Monkeys record label and how many copies did they sell of their debut album? Why did they choose an independent record label?

Arctic monkeys label is Domino and they sold 27million copies,they chose an independant record label in order to have freedom and control on what they do.

5) Looking at the wider music industry, has the internet been a positive or negative development for record companies and artists? Why?

Sometimes negativebecause since spotify, the artists dont get much of the revenue. However its also positive because they can expand their fanbase by being on social media

demgraphics- middle class 15-30 year olds, white
psychographics- reformers and explorers, anti materialistic, independant and like to discover new things.

2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor?


Nostalgia because of te 80s tv show feel, personal relashionships and identity because the fans could relate to the songs lyrics and may have followed Arctic Monkeys for a long time.

3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to Arctic Monkeys fans. Why did you choose those moments?


I think when they mention 1984 in the lyrics it could give the audience a sense of nostalgia. Also when they do the intro to the song with the guitar riff it could give the audience a sense of excitement
.

4) How did fans take a leading role in making Arctic Monkeys famous back in 2005?


Their fans are the ones who uploaded their songs to myspace, creating a bigger audience because of word of mouth and everyone started to sdhare and listen to their music on myspace.

5) How are fans positioned to respond to the band? What does Arctic Monkeys want fans to think about their video?

I think they want fans to think their videos and music is very authentic because they are an independent band from sheffield and they were all friends before the fame.
